Clever Scheme Gone Wrong

Mabel has a husband with a bit of money that she would love to spend, but her mother-in-law watches over the money like a hawk and stops her from spending hubby's money, even complaining about a new purse Mabel bought while shopping. And Mabel wants to purchase some new furs . . . what would mother-in-law say about THAT!? So Mabel does what any good wife would do . . . she puts her hubby on the spot . . . either mother leaves or she will leave! Of course, mother goes home and Mabel has hubby all to herself . . . but she still needs to get those furs somehow . . . Fortunately hubby goes out drinking with a buddy after work and the next morning is sleeping off a good hangover. Mabel goes through his pants pockets and takes most of his cash, knowing that when he discovers that he has much less money than he thought he had, he will blame it on the fuzzy memory of the night before in the neighborhood bar. Mabel heads off to the store to purchase some furs with the money she took from hubby's pockets, but after purchasing three furs she must figure out a way to take them home without hubby finding out that she bought them with his money. Inspiration hits her as she passes a pawn shop and she goes into the pawn shop and pawns the furs . . . then she heads down to hubby's office with the pawn ticket and tells him that she found the ticket on the ground and I wonder what could be pawned . . . for only $3 hubby can recover whatever was pawned and it might be something valuable . . . . Ahhh . . . and Mabel will pretend to be excited when hubby comes home with a set of three luxurious furs for her . . . but as fate would have it mother-in-law visits hubby as he is heading for the pawn shop and when they discover that the pawn ticket is for three wonderful furs, mother-in-law decides that she should have the two big furs and Mabel will get the little skinny one . . . she won't know that the other two furs were part of the deal anyway, right? Wrong! What a mess this will be! Pop a little bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show.
