The Secret of the British

Sandi Sanders is the British Commissioner of a large part of Africa, trying to keep the peace between the scattered tribes, and as our adventure opens he is challenged by the Old Chief, the leader of a tribe that is attacking neighboring tribes and stealing their women to use as slaves. Bosambo, played by Paul Robeson, is a tall and strong warrior chief of one of the tribes in his territory, and he becomes Sandi's main helper in his attempt to keep the peace. Early in our adventure Bosambo meets a very beautiful girl who captivates his heart and marries him. As peace reigns and crops are good, the whole territory is as safe or safer as the streets of London. But one day disaster looms, as Sandi leaves for a year's holiday in England where he will get married. The day he leaves the territory, two scoundrels who are trying to sell gin and guns to the natives decide to spread the word that the great Sandi is dead. This emboldens the Old Chief, who starts a war with the other tribes, eventually kidnapping the wife of Bosambo, and luring him to the land of the Old Chief, where both Bosambo and his wife Lilongo are tied to stakes and prepared to be killed. Meanwhile, on the coast of Africa preparing to board a ship for England Sandi learns of the war with the Old Chief and decides to forego his marriage in England and return to the land that he has become so familiar with and lovingly helps by building schools for the children and teaching modern farming methods to prevent starvation. Sandi rushes back to the territory he has overseen for ten years just in time to discover that the wife of Bosambo has been kidnapped by the Old Chief and when Bosambo goes to rescue her, he also is captured and tied to a stake and prepared to be killed along with his wife Lilongo. Sandi is on his way back to try to save Bosambo and his wife Lilongo, but will he be in time? Will we learn the secret of the British, the secret that Sandi and Bosambo have learned? . . . We will learn that secret, in the final words of the adventure . . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
