Jeepers Creepers, Where’d You Get those Eyes!
Rudy Fehr was born in Berlin, Germany, and the young Jewish boy got a good job editing movie film in the first years of motion pictures. As Adolph Hitler rose to power in Germany, Rudy fled to the U.S. and was soon working in Hollywood. After working behind the scenes on many famous films, he was nominated with his daughter Kaja Fehr for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing in 1985 for the movie “Prizzi’s Honor.”
His wife, and Kaja Fehr’s mother, was actress Maris Wrixon, who began acting in 1939, the year this movie was produced. Maris Wrixon was a supporting actor in many of the same films that Rudy Fehr edited, and they married on 28 January 1940, a few months after this movie was produced. They remained together until Rudy’s death in 1999.
In this adventure Maris Wrixon is the young daughter of a hard-driving coal mine owner who will chase every dollar ruthlessly, without much thought for the men who worked for him. They are summering in the Appalachian Mountains fishing for trout in the cool mountain air. Unfortunately, they are near a small mountain village where many of the men of the village have been out of work because the coal mines have been closed.
When the coal baron has a run-in with the Mayor of the tiny town, it is up to Sheriff Roy Rogers to help keep the peace between the feuding town and the determined coal baron. Maris Wrixon, as Connie Durant, is stuck between her loyalty to her powerful father and her love for Sheriff Roy. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
