The Hydro-Maniac and the Pickle Princess

Tony Woodward, played by Douglas Fairbanks Jr., has a large British home, a proper British butler, a fast British sports car . . . . and very little money . . . . But all will be well tomorrow when he marries the daughter of the British pickle empire. Today he is driving along the Themes and spots a young blonde woman thrashing about in the water. When he determines that she means to drown herself he jumps in and saves her life, and takes her to his home to dry off. That evening he is having his bachelor party, and the young blonde girl is still in the house. This leads to that and the next morning his fiancé Vera, played by Margaret Lockwood, visits the home with her father and they discover Tony passed out cold on the floor . . . . and nearby is the sleeping blonde girl Mary, played by Laura La Plante. Of course the wedding is off, and Tony is broke without any prospect of getting any money from the pickle princess and her family. He decides to take the young blonde girl to Monte Carlo with the last of his cash and split it with her . . . . If they win a fortune they will divide the money and go on their merry way . . . . If they lose all of the money they will jump together into the Mediterranean Sea and end it all. When they get to the casino Tony gives Mary half of his remaining cash and they go into the casino to try to win a fortune. Mary soon loses all of her money and goes to find Tony . . . . Tony has only one chip left and he is ready to play it when a champagne cork pops . . . . Mary slumps into Tony's arms and his last remaining chip falls onto the roulette table landing on the number 13 . . . Tony carries Mary up to their hotel suite and calls for a doctor . . . . Meanwhile the pickle princess and her father are headed to the casino to make amends with Tony . . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
