When I was a young man there were two 'fantasy girls' in my life - Farah Fawcett from Charlie's Angels and Suzanne Somers from Three's Company. After Somers was kicked off of the hit television program that she was such a large part of, she started selling a 'thigh buster' contraption that would make every woman's legs as beautiful as hers were. Sure, that's all it takes . . . a few squeezes a day on her thigh machine and you too can have the body of Suzanne Somers. Probably since the days of Julius Caesar women have been doing extraordinary things to attempt achieving the body of a goddess, with very mixed results. Of course, the definition of that body has changed over the years. From the days of curvy Mae West to the time of Twiggy, women have tried to look the way movies and magazines have suggested that men desire. I have discovered that the inside beauty is far more rare and special than the skin that holds it.
But forget about all of that 'deep' philosophy about beauty, and grab your bowl of hot buttered white kernel popcorn and enjoy a rousing romantic comedy. Madame Helene runs a fat farm in New York City - she reduces the size of the society ladies, and reduces the size of their bank accounts all at the same time. What a gal! And amidst all of the gossip and scandal in her shop, she finds herself chased by two men - both with plenty of money. One is a doctor with 'breeding' that she likes, and one is a man about town that she hates . . . er . . . loves . . . er . . . hates . . . er . . . just keep munching your popcorn and enjoy, she'll figure it out before the final credits roll.
