Flying Fools and the Femme Fatale
It's all fun and games until the bank robbers frame him . . . Nick and Pete are two hot-shot airplane pilots who have government jobs patrolling the Mexican border, but most of their energy is spent playing tricks on each other and trying to gain the affections of the pretty daughter of their boss, Colonel Curtis, played by silent film star William Farnum.
The comedy that the two flying pranksters employ as they chase after the Colonel's daughter makes for some really entertaining fun . . . until the bank robbers and smugglers spoil their fun by framing one of the boys, Lieutenant Nick Terris, played by Ray Walker.
Someone with knowledge of the border patrol customs sets up a phony radio transmitter and orders Nick to fly to a remote location and take orders from a fellow he will find there. It turns out that bank robbers are waiting for Nick and at gunpoint order him to fly them south of the border.
When Nick returns, and is accused of helping bank robbers escape the law, there is nothing for prankster pilot to do except resign in shame. At this point a wonderfully entertaining romantic comedy turns into a crime adventure with gallant flying aces in those amazing early airplanes.
The Colonel's daughter Janet, played by actress Julie Bishop, has an idea about who could have faked the radio call to Nick, and the chase is on to capture the real bad guys and clear Nick of all charges so that he can get back to the important job of wooing the Colonel's daughter. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show.
