Hopalong Cassidy Gone Loco

In this episode of Hopalong Cassidy everything we know about the cowboy in black seems to be turned on its head. As our adventure opens we discover that Johnny, Hoppy’s friend, is a Texas Ranger, and before we get too far along in our story Texas Ranger Johnny is ordered by his boss to go to the ranch where Hopalong Cassidy is riding a wild bronco. . . . and Johnny will arrest Hopalong Cassidy for cattle rustling!

At first Hopalong thinks that it must be a joke, but Johnny is serious. Hopalong Cassidy is taken to the Texas Ranger headquarters and ordered to get out of the territory before sundown or go to jail. Hopalong Cassidy leaves the Texas Ranger office with a wicked sneer on his face while a stunned Johnny looks on.

The story of Hopalong Cassidy going to the dark side spreads through the territory like wildfire. . . . . The crime spree of Hopalong Cassidy has finally been discovered and he is an outcast on the run from the law. Hopalong heads down to the Mexican border town where he grew up and even there the Sheriff tells him that he is not welcome, and that he had better watch his step. Then Hopalong heads into the saloon, and for the first time ever Hopalong Cassidy drinks whiskey. . . . Has the Western World gone Loco?

Soon Hoppy is mixing with a gang of outlaws that has been terrifying ranchers and townsmen on both sides of the border. It seems that a crafty outlaw known as The Fox is behind all of the mischief and no one knows who The Fox is, or even what he looks like.

At the suggestion of the head of the Texas Rangers and a Colonel in the Mexican Secret Service, Hopalong has gone rogue to see if he can infiltrate the outlaw gang and discover the identity of The Fox. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
