Grandpa, the Singing Blonde and the Winning Sweepstakes Ticket

Frankie Darro’s parents that were high-wire aerialists in the circus, and athletic Frankie had show business in his blood, acting in his first movie at age 6. Because of his small size, he acted as a teenager into his thirties. About three quarters of the way through this story, you get to see some of Frankie's athletic circus ability.

In this crime adventure Frankie is a teenage newspaper boy named Mike Sanford that helps solve a big sweepstakes counterfeiting gang. His elderly grandpa buys a phony Irish Sweepstakes ticket from a local mobster, and it turns out that it is the winning number!

Of course, the mobsters don't want to pay off on the ticket, so a couple of them go over to his apartment to get the ticket from him and shut him up. Grandpa is smart enough that he has hidden the ticket, and when he refuses to hand over his ticket the two goons struggle with grandpa and he falls to the floor and dies.

Meanwhile, Mike's sister Gloria, who works at the Evening Herald newspaper, and a reporter who is sweet on Gloria start to investigate the phony sweepstakes racket. Tony Franco, owner of a local nightclub is the boss of the phony sweepstakes racket, but he has a boss that we only see in the shadows.

I don't want to take you too far down the adventurous trail, because I don't want to give away the identity of the mysterious big boss. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
