John Wayne is at his best in this cowboy adventure, and along with Gabby Hayes and Wayne's good buddy Yakima Canutt we are in for a treat during the next hour. Gabby Hayes and John Wayne discover a fortune in gold a few miles outside town, and they are suddenly rich. That is a good thing, right? Well, sure . . . except that the no-good Sheriff's son is deep in debt and robs and shoots the banker, framing Gabby Hayes, who is tossed into jail. Thanks to a great fist fight between John Wayne and the Sheriff's boy the Sheriff and the town discover that the boy did the evil deed, and Gabby Hayes is out of jail. Great . . . now it's just blue skies and good times for Gabby, his beautiful young grand-daughter, and handsome John Wayne. Ahhh . . . . . but this adventure has more bad guys . . . including Yakima Canutt and his boss, played by Lloyd Whitlock, who get Gabby to unknowingly sign over his ranch to them. And that isn't even enough . . . when they discover that Gabby has gone out to his gold claim, they take off in search of him and when they find him they shoot him down because he won't show them where his gold claim is. Back in town they then frame John Wayne for Gabby's disappearance and probable murder. Wow . . . it sure doesn't look good for the young cowboy when they toss him in jail. Before this adventure is over we'll see John Wayne on horseback chasing a motorized railroad cart down the railroad tracks, with Gabby Hayes chasing along beside the tracks in an old jalopy . . . well, it looks like an old jalopy to me, but it was probably a shiny new car when the movie was filmed. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show!
