A Small Party in Your Honor, With A Game of Death!
Politics today is almost a blood sport, with rival political parties rabidly trying to win at any cost. Lies, deceit, anger, bigotry, and hatred are the tools used on the public to convince us to vote one way or the other. Don’t you miss the ‘good old days’ when politics was a friendly endeavor between good folk who have different opinions? Well, this 1934 story isn’t those good old days, because two political rivals and their friends have been invited to a mysterious penthouse party, and they will die, one every hour, beginning at eleven o’clock.
On the roof of a tall building is a lavish penthouse, with an entrance guarded by large iron gates. Everything inside the penthouse is brand-new. Nothing has ever been used, no one has ever been inside the penthouse until tonight. On the garden patio there are eight empty coffins set neatly in a row. Eight people have been invited to a party in this penthouse. There will be a ninth guest, named Death, who will claim a victim every hour on the hour.
Each of the guests has a deep, dark secret – A skeleton in their closet, so to speak. A mysterious voice from the radio declares that they will die, one-by-one, if they cannot outwit the killer. Each of the eight guests will match wits with the voice on the radio, and at eleven o’clock the first guest dies. At twelve o’clock the second guest dies. At one o’clock two guests die. Will any of the guests survive the night? One by one the eight party guests are dying on the roof of a fifty-story skyscraper. There is a mad maniac killer in the penthouse, and no one may survive this dastardly night of vengeance. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
