Island Girls, Island Love, Island Death

One of the sub-plots of this desert island adventure concerns two ammunition salesmen heading to China to sell arms to the Chinese government. The audience watching this story in their local theater would understand, but in case a couple of you don’t remember 1938 . . . This is the background.

While war clouds were building in Europe in the run-up to World War Two, halfway around the world Japan had already declared war on China and the fighting was fierce. Two of our stranded island survivors are salesmen competing to get a big order for ammunition from the government in China.

A couple of years later the U.S. would secretly sent volunteer pilots and airplanes to help China defend itself against the Japanese invasion. These pilots were called the Flying Tigers and you watch John Wayne star in that movie here: The Flying Tigers —»

As our adventure begins a huge airplane is taking eight passengers across the ocean to China. One is a fleeing gangster killer. One is a wealthy young heiress. One is a very powerful U.S. Senator. One is an older lady on her way to visit her son, who is working in China. One is a young nurse on her way to do volunteer work in a hospital. One is a hot blonde girl who is a witness in a gangster trial. One survivor is the airship steward. And two men are the ammunition salesmen competing for a big sale to the Chinese government.

The airplane enters a huge Pacific storm, and suddenly crashes to the waves. Our nine survivors jump into the warm Pacific waters before the plane explodes and sinks to the bottom of the sea. The survivors wash up on the shore of a deserted tropical island. . . . . But wait . . . . The island isn’t deserted. . . . They discover a very secretive man and his Chinese servant living on the island, with all the comforts of home. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
