Would Lots of Money Change You?
Right and Wrong are usually easy to know, but sometimes it gets a bit foggy. For instance, if you are walking along the street and find a large amount of cash with no identification attached to it and no one in the area that is searching for it, what do you do with the money?
If no one is searching for lost money, and the cash is just cash, there is probably no way to find out who the real owner is, right? Now, what is the right thing to do and what is the wrong thing to do? Not so easy, is it? Now tell your family about your lucky find, and see if they can all agree on what is the right thing to do.
Okay, let’s take it another step . . . . . If you are a person of modest means and you suddenly come into a huge amount of money . . . . . Would it change you? How about the people around you? Would your friends treat you the same? Would you discover more ‘friends’ than you ever knew you had?
Comic actor Stuart Erwin is meek and mousy Henry Armstrong, and his dull and boring life is about to change forever. Back in 1937 the U.S. was still printing one thousand dollar bills, and Henry is about to find one on the street under the hoof of a horse.
Of course, a thousand dollars in 1937 would be like hitting a major lottery today, and that is just what happened to Henry. What will Henry do with a thousand dollars? How will Henry handle all the new ‘friends’ that he suddenly has? Will his girlfriend stay the same? Will Henry keep the same girlfriend? And what about Mama . . . . . Oh, you definitely want to meet Henry’s Mama!
A dozen years after this movie was filmed television sets in every living room were all the rage and Stuart Erwin had a hit television situation comedy show called ‘The Trouble with Father’ that you can watch on my television show web site, but first . . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy this show.
