Gangsters, Girls and Guns
If you are an old movie fan I'm sure that you know Regis Toomey, but if not this is a good gangster adventure to get to know him. Born of Irish parents in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he studied in college to become a lawyer, but the acting bug got in him and he became one of Hollywood's finest 'good guys.' He was often cast as a policeman in movies and television shows, and in this gangster action thriller he is the District Attorney who jumps from one car to another and starts fighting with three henchmen trying to kidnap a young girl. Before that he picks up a pick pocket who has just grabbed the young girl's purse, and is chased by a motorcycle cop through the city streets. Regis Toomey isn't usually this bold in his movies, but in this one he is not shy about fighting with the gangsters, even when they have a gun on him. But even with his active fighting style you will immediately recognize his wonderfully friendly personality, and that personality is the real Regis Toomey, as you will see in all of his movies and television shows. You can watch him with another native of Pittsburgh, Dick Powell in the Four Star Playhouse television episode The Stacked Deck, or on the 1954-55 Mickey Rooney sit-com Hey Mulligan, or of course you can check out his other movies on this site here: Regis Toomey Movies. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter and enjoy the show.
