Runaway Millionaire

If you have any pre-teen kids around and want to share a good movie with them, gather them around, pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with lots of warm melted butter on it and watch this one. Little Tommy Neville is a pampered kid in the home of millionaire parents. His day is filled with lessons from private tutors so he knows how to speak French, play the piano and more, but has never played baseball or gone fishing. This day he meets his new bodyguard, a burly fellow with a big gun. Why does Tommy need a bodyguard? . . . . His mom and dad are getting a divorce, and his mom wants to be sure that his dad doesn't try to take Tommy from her by force. Tommy has been reading an adventure book about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn as they run away from home and journey down the Mississippi river. When Tommy learns that his mom and dad are getting a divorce and he must testify in court the next day he decides to run away from home like the boy in the Mark Twain novel. Now the bodyguard is in deep trouble because he 'lost' the kid he was supposed to be guarding, so his boss hides Tommy's runaway note and tells the mom that the boy was kidnapped by two big thugs. Meanwhile, Tommy is off on his adventure, and he meets up with a reformed racketeer who, along with his daughter look after Tommy because they believe that he is a poor street urchin without a home. When a real kidnapper tries to grab Tommy there is an amazing car chase scene with three brand new shiny convertibles . . . . brand new 1936 convertibles that is . . . what a great scene for us old farts . . . and the kids won't mind, they will just enjoy the thrill of the chase.
