In Love with the Teacher

Are there any of us who hasn't had a school crush on a teacher when we were youngsters? I know that I had a teacher that I thought was just the end of the world. Ahhh . . . If we could only retain that innocent affection for a person that we were certain was just 'perfect' . . . . no faults, no failings . . . a perfect person. Unfortunately we grow up and learn that we all have faults, and learning to really love means learning to love the faults as well as the assets. Anyway, in this Hal Roach comedy short, the brother of beautiful young blonde schoolteacher June Crabtree is coming for a visit, but our school kids think that he is her beau and will marry her and take her away from them. The kids plot to drive him away from their teacher by telling him all of her faults, including made-up faults like a wooden leg and false teeth. Her brother Jack laughs at their attempts and then goes for a swim while waiting for school to be over for the day so that he can be with his sister, June. While skinny dipping in the nearby river the kids hide his clothes so that he won't be able to get out of the water and won't be able to marry Miss Crabtree and take her away from them. The humor is refreshing and lovable, and will put a smile on your face even during a bad day. The only thing I want to know is how Miss Crabtree could afford that amazing convertible that she drives around in . . . today we sure don't pay schoolteachers enough money to drive such nice cars . . . Did they pay schoolteachers a lot more money back in the day? . . . or maybe it is just 'movie magic' and the creators took a bit of liberty . . . In any case, pop a little bowl of white kernel popcorn with warm melted butter on it and put a warm smile on your face and in your spirit as you enjoy the show.
