I Shot the Sheriff . . .

One of my favorite cowboy bad boys, Charles King, is the one-eyed rustler Trinidad, and when the Sheriff accuses him of cheating at poker one-eye Trinidad shoots the Sheriff down in cold blood. But I get ahead of myself. As this fast paced cowboy adventure begins a different Sheriff and his posse are chasing an escaped outlaw across the desert on fast horses. One of the deputies stops and takes careful aim with his rifle and puts a bullet into the escaping bandit The Pocatello Kid, who is down, but not dead. Segway to the nearby town and just before one-eye shoots Sheriff Jim Bledsoe we learn that the Sheriff is a cussing, bad guy who helps shelter boss Larkin and his bandits as they rustle cattle from the local ranchers. And the rough and tough Sheriff is sweet on Larkin's niece Mary, played by silent screen star Marceline Day, who hates his guts. Now the Sheriff is dead at the hands of one-eye, and the Pocatello Kid staggers into the place near death. Now . . . . wait for it . . . . this will be good . . . here it is . . . the near dead bandit The Pocatello Kid is the identical twin brother of the nasty, cussing, rustler-protecting Sheriff. What to do, what to do . . . Larkin, head of the rustler gang decides to switch the clothing of his dead Sheriff and the nearly dead Pocatello Kid, and when the posse chasing the Pocatello Kid arrives the rustlers convince them that their dead Sheriff is actually The Pocatello Kid, and the near dead man is actually their Sheriff. Boss Larkin figures that the Pocatello Kid will assume the identity of his brother the crooked Sheriff and help them continue robbing the ranchers. Ah, but in an ironic twist of fate, unlike the cussing, bad-mannered Sheriff, the Pocatello Kid is a sweet, respectful guy who wants to really uphold law and order, and pretty little Mary instantly recognizes that this man is not the same one that her uncle was forcing her to marry, and a love affair is about to start. Add the required gun fights with the Larkin rustlers and a shootout with one-eye Trinidad when the Pocatello Kid learns that it was him that shot his twin brother the Sheriff and you have one mighty fine story of the old West. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show.
