High Adventure with Little Billy

This quick one-reel comedy is a bit different from most of the Mickey McGuire comedy shorts . . . in addition to slapstick humor by the little kids trying to act adult in their own neighborhood, there is a hair-raising rescue of little brother Billy who is falling from a very high hotel window downtown that is worthy of the stunts performed by Harold Lloyd and other physical comedians of the time. As our quick laugh-fest begins we learn that it is little brother Billy's birthday, and all the neighborhood kids are preparing to surprise him with a party. When Mickey goes back to the house to get Billy he overhears his mother with some strangers on the front porch talking about little Billy. It seems that mother is giving Billy to a wealthy couple for adoption so that he can have a better life, and soon little Billy is in the car waving good-bye to his big brother Mickey and all the other kids. Mickey and the kids are determined to find Billy and try to bring him home, and eventually discover him in a high hotel window, which he promptly falls out of and is left clinging to a flag pole many stories up in the sky. Mickey and Hambone rush to the roof and try to gallantly save Billy from certain death by hauling him back up to the roof. Pop a little bowl of white kernel popcorn with warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show.
