Money Talks, but You Can't Keep a Good Girl Down

Take a nineteen year old drop-dead beautiful orphan girl, and add two society brothers, and you have one really messed up love story. It is 1936, and the world is in a Great Depression, and jobs are tough to come by. Nineteen year old Treasure . . . yes, her first name is Treasure, is an orphan all alone in the world except for her roommate Betty. She is burning shoe leather looking for work when she meets twenty year old Tony Carver, of 'Thee' Carvers, the younger son in a hoity-toity society family. Tony and his older brother Foster run an advertising agency, and Treasure gets a job as a photographer's model for 'Tango' silk hosiery. When older brother Foster spots the cute nineteen year old he gets wolf-eyes for her and tries to get her on a date and have some fun with her, but she sees through his scheme and gets away, earning the scorn of older brother Foster. This leads to that and younger brother Tony falls head over heels for her and plans to marry her on his 21st birthday when he will get his big inheritance from the family trust. In fact, Tony is so much in love that he can't wait until his twenty first birthday so they secretly get married and set up housekeeping in a modest apartment. Well, this rubs older brother Foster the wrong way so he plots to destroy the marriage and arrange an annulment by making younger brother Tony believe that Treasure is sleeping with him even though she is married to Tony. Crestfallen, without so much as a good-bye to Treasure, Tony heads to the London office to get away from it all, and Treasure doesn't know what is going on . . . except that she has a little bundle in the oven, and is convinced that Tony will return for her on his twenty first birthday and they will live happily ever after. Tony's older brother manages to keep them from communicating with each other all this time, so Treasure doesn't know that Tony thinks she is unfaithful, but Tony thinks that Treasure is a tramp and tries to move on with his life. Just imagine Treasure's feelings when she reads in the paper that Tony is engaged to marry a society girl instead of returning to her! It looks like the end is near, my friends, the end is near. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
