Father, Daughter, Boyfriend, Murder, and the Secret of Old Bess

Young Ruth Foster (Judith Barrett) discovers that her long lost father will be spending a few days at Yellowstone Park, so she goes to Yellowstone to surprise him and meet the father that she never knew. As soon as she arrives she meets Park Ranger Sherwood (Henry Hunter) and romance is in the air.

When she meets her father (Ralph Morgan) he is surprised to see her there and overcome with love for the daughter that he hasn’t seen since she was a baby. With the beautiful scenes from 1936 Yellowstone Park amidst the story as it develops, this looks like a wonderful family feel-good movie unfolding, but Old Bess will step in and murder will be on the agenda.

Who is ‘Old Bess’? . . . well . . . actually Old Bess isn’t a ‘who’ but a ‘what’ - an erupting geyser of boiling hot water that only shoots to life every 27 years or so. As Old Bess starts to erupt the crowds gather round to watch, and up from the boiling geyser hole spews boiling hot water, scalding steam, . . . and a dead body! A Frozen Dead Body! How coult that happen? Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
