Happy Hopalong and the Freight Line Bandits

Jane Travers owns the freight line that carries goods from Crescent City to El Dorado, and as our adventure opens she and her men are in a fierce gun battle with bandits who are trying to burn down her buildings and kill her men. In the distance Hopalong Cassidy, his side kick Lucky Jenkins and some of the ranch hands from the Bar 20 watch the fight. Lucky wants to lead the men down to Crescent City and join the fight, but Hopy reminds him that they are carrying a load of gold bars for the freight line to deliver to El Dorado, and their first duty is to protect the gold. When the fight is over Hopy slips quietly into town to check things out and tell freight line owner Jane that he has the shipment of gold that she has been expecting. When Jane discovers that he is the famous Hopalong Cassidy she pleads with him to escort the shipment to El Dorado with her men because bandits have been attacking her wagons every trip. The situation is so terrible for her business that she has even requested a troop of army soldiers to ride with them. Hopalong agrees to ride along as a favor, and they wait for the soldiers to arrive. Meanwhile the bandits have ambushed the soldiers and killed them and the bandits have dressed in the soldiers' uniforms . . . . Yup, the bandits will be in army uniforms and riding right along with the shipment of gold! Fortunately Hopalong and his pals will be riding with them . . . . . Wait a minute . . . . . At the last minute Hopalong orders his men to mount up and ride back to the Bar 20 ranch instead of going along with the freight shipment. . . . Is Hopalong Cassidy turning yellow? . . . . . Is he deliberately going to allow the bandits to take over the shipment? Will this caravan of goods and gold be truly a doomed caravan? . . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
