The Phony Maid, Waldo, and the Westport Burglar

Not much is written about actress Judy Clark, who was so close in voice and personality to Betty Hutton that it probably harmed her movie career. She told one interviewer that between movies, anytime that she was out on a date or visiting a friend for dinner, she would always take a doggie bag with part of her meal home to her mother, because money for food was scarce between jobs.

In this movie the teenage girl is chasing a much older man, but in real life Judy Clark caught a much younger man. Ten years after making this movie, while filming a movie at Columbia Studios, she met and married Ron Zalimas, who was fifteen years younger than she was. He worked for the Pentagon and because of his work they lived and traveled many places around the world until his retirement in the year 2000. Judy passed two years after her husband retired, at the age of 78.

In this coming-of-age adventure Judy Clark is Joan, the teenage daughter of a wealthy family living in Westport on Long Island Sound. Joan is anxious to snag a man, but her mother and older sister will see to it that she remains the young kid-sister while older sister Ethel chases eligible bachelor J. Waldo Barnes. The precocious kid-sister will do whatever it takes to steal Waldo away from her older sister, and in the process, she will meet up with a house burglar, and they will both be chased by the police. The chase is on, with the cops after her and the burglar, while she chases Waldo. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
