Who's Killing Who? . . . er . . . Whom?
There is a demented killer after Barbara Carlin, played by June Lockhart, and the killer will not quit after botching the first attempt. Now, pay close attention, because this gets confusing . . . as the story progresses, I was convinced that each of the people around Barbara was the killer, but everything is not as it seems . . . . Wealthy old man Carlin dies and leaves his wealth to his daughter. Now, there is a kid sister, but she turns out to be an orphan ward and not a full sister, so she doesn't get much of the wealth. The kid sister loves the man that Barbara married and is upset that Barbara 'stole' her man from her. Now, the man that Barbara married is having an affair with the sexy secretary to a big boxer . . . . And the big boxer is having an affair with Barbara while her husband is having an affair with the boxer's secretary. On the night of the big fire in the barn a woman's charred body is found in the ashes, and as it is the habit of Barbara to visit her horses each night before turning in, it is assumed that the dead woman in the barn is Barbara. It turns out that Barbara was at Arrowhead for the day, and when she returns and sees the newspaper account of her burial that day she decides to attend her own funeral. She hires a cab and with a thick black veil covering her face she watches the graveside service . . . . Watching the emotions of her husband, her kid sister, her butler, her housekeeper and the other folk at the service . . . Trying to determine which one of them wanted her dead. There is only one man that she can trust . . . . Mike Dunn, the family lawyer, played by Hugh Beaumont . . . So she gets into his car and reveals herself to him. Together Barbara and Mike will visit all the people who might have had a motive to kill her to observe their reactions when they discover she is still alive . . . They visit kid sister Rusty . . . . Then her husband Rod . . . . Butler Jeffries . . . Boxer George . . . . And one by one . . . . Everyone except butler Jeffries seems to have a motive for her death . . . . Finally, on a dark night when Barbara is alone in her mansion a second attempt is made on her life . . . A shadowy figure with a fireplace poker enters her bedroom and violently swings the poker at Barbara, and she drops to the floor as the killer in the shadows rushes out of the room . . . Barbara survives . . . . Her husband is taken to police headquarters and questioned . . . and the killer returns once more . . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
