The Magic in the Moonrise . . .

Do you believe that if your mother or father cannot control their booze, the same fate will certainly fall on you? If your father or mother was terribly overweight will you also be overweight? If your father or mother was a killer will you become one also? Would you believe that whichever way you answer those questions . . . . you will be correct? Your thoughts and beliefs will create your future as certain as the moon rises in the night . . . What will you choose to think about today? In this film noir killer thriller the opening scene is of a man being hung because he murdered the doctor that gave his wife a bottle of pills that killed her instead of curing her. Baby Danny, with no mother and a father hung for murder, was taunted all his life about his father being hung for murder, and the deep, dark, dangerous emotions filled the angry head of Danny Hawkins all his young life. Danny was also a 'hick from the sticks' . . . a mountain boy with less education and breeding than the town folk where he was raised by his Aunt Jessie. One of his biggest taunters was the banker's boy, who made a career out of taunting and abusing Danny when they were children, and continued even when they were both adults. One night after the Saturday night dance the banker's boy finds Danny in the woods and starts taunting him an punching him until Danny falls to the ground . . . . The banker's boy asks Danny if he has had enough punishment or would he like more . . . . Danny struggles to his feet and pummels the banker's boy with his fists until the banker's boy falls to the ground, and Danny stands over him . . . . The banker's boy grabs a rock on the ground where he lies and jumps up and attempts to hit Danny with the rock, but during the struggle Danny gets the rock and hits the banker's boy instead . . . . Killing him . . . . Danny quietly leaves the woods and returns to town, and it takes several days before folk discover that the banker's boy has been killed. Will the small town Sheriff ever find enough evidence to convict Danny? Will the Sheriff even suspect Danny? But the bigger question is about what is going on in Danny's head . . . . Thoughts become things . . . . What Danny is thinking about today will create the future that is his tomorrow . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
