A Corner of Heaven . . . Invaded by Devils

Michael and Emmeline are two children who meet on a ship headed for New Zealand that catches fire and the Captain orders everyone to abandon ship. By strange circumstances the two children and a ship mate named Paddy Button cannot leave the ship until long after everyone else. Luckily there is one small boat left so the children and the sailor row away from the sinking ship into the darkness . . . finally discovering an uncharted and deserted island where they learn to live in harmony on their little spot of heaven. Unfortunately the sailor perishes after a bout with demon rum and the two children are left alone on the island . . . Until one day ten years later a sailing ship appears in the distance and two men, Murdoch and Carter, come to the island and meet Michael and Emmeline. When Doctor Murdoch spots the hand-made comb in Emmeline's hair that is studded with giant pearls, he and his henchman Carter promise to take the two back to civilization only if Michael will dive for and provide them with a bag full of the large beads that Michael finds inside certain shell fish in the blue lagoon. Alas, when Michael tires of diving for more of the beads Murdoch pulls out a gun and forces Michael to continue bringing the large beads to him. Meanwhile Murdoch's henchman Carter secretly takes the bag of pearls that have been collected so far and convinces Emmeline to go back to the ship with him to prepare dinner for all of them when Michael is finished diving for the beads. Once Carter and Emmeline are aboard the ship Carter pulls anchor and heads out to sea with Emmeline, leaving Michael and Murdoch ashore. It looks like the end of paradise for Michael and Emmeline because of the treachery of these two rogues. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
