The Murdered Sucker and the Grease Monkey

Sometimes a man just doesn’t realize what life is all about until he is murdered.

Walter Williams is a high-powered and wealthy businessman in San Francisco. He loves his work and he loves his wife . . . . He loves his wife as much as a man can love a woman. He is driving his Packard Roadster to Denver for a business meeting, but before he leaves he gives his secretary strict instructions to send a dozen roses every morning to his wife while he is away, to remind her of his love for her.

His wife Irene, however, has arranged for her secret lover to murder him on his trip and make it look like a car accident. On a steep mountain road, the man hitching a ride with Walter arranges for a flat tire, and after the tire is fixed the man hits Walter violently with a tire iron, and Walter crumples to the ground.

In an ironic twist of fate, the killer drives hurriedly away and crashes into an oncoming gasoline truck, exploding in flames, burning the killer beyond recognition.

Meanwhile a dazed Walter stumbles to his feet and climbs aboard a moving truck heading to Idaho.  He discovers in a newspaper that everyone believes that he was the man in the Packard Roadster that exploded in flames.

Walter discovers that the man who died in his car was his wife’s lover, and he is feeling confused, angry, and betrayed. Instead of letting folk know that he is alive, he uses a false name and gets a job helping a gal who runs a small town auto garage.

Meanwhile back in San Francisco the cops uncover his wife’s relationship with the killer and determine that she arranged her husband’s death. While Walter is living a simple life in Idaho he reads the newspapers telling about his wife being tried for his murder, and he decides to let her fry for his murder instead of letting them know that he is still alive.

Walter is happy with life in a small town and is determined to never go back to San Francisco and let anyone know that he is alive . . . . Until circumstances unravel for him in one of the cruelest twists of fate that one could ever imagine. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
