World War II Comes to Texas

Cowboy acting team Dusty King, Davy Sharpe and Max Terhune made 24 cowboy movies, and this one is number seventeen in the series, and the only one to take us out of Texas to the far away Philippines in war time. This adventure hit theaters in October of 1942 when America was fully engaged in the war, but the story takes us back to December of 1941, a week or so before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Our boys, as the Range Busters, are working as cowhands on a friend's ranch and it is pretty quiet until Pop Conroy comes back to the ranch with a contract to supply 400 horses to the Army for delivery to the Philippines. We discover that someone has been rustling cattle from the ranchers, and a mysterious truck is making high speed trips through the valley. After the normal gun fights, fist fights and tussles with the bad guys we discover that there are foreign spies all around the ranch conspiring against America. Our Range Busters then accompany the 400 horses to the Pilli pines where we get to see some authentic film from 1942 Philippines daily life. But as our Range Busters are enjoying a little time in the Philippines before heading back to Texas they discover Cookie, the ranch cook from back in Texas, who turns out to be a Japanese spy. After a bar-busting fight with the Japanese spies in the Philippines the Range Busters head back to Texas because they have discovered that there are even more spies in Texas, including the rancher in the neighboring ranch. Just as this cowboy adventure is winding up our boys hear the radio report of the attack on Pearl Harbor and decide to join the Army to help the fight. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show.
