Texas Rangers with Guns a Blazin'

The Producers Releasing Corporation made and distributed over 200 motion pictures from 1940 through 1948, including 22 movies about the Texas Rangers. The first 14 starred Dave O'Brien as the leading man and this movie, Guns of the Law, was number eleven. After Dave O'Brien went on to other things, PRC chose Tex Ritter as the leading man in the final 8 episodes. In this episode Charles King, famous for his bad guy cowboy roles, is a lawyer in Laredo, and supposedly a friend to all of the outlying ranchers who are being kicked off of their ranches. It turns out that lawyer Lowther is the mastermind behind the scheme to claim all of the ranch land so that he can profit when a new proposed pipeline goes through the area. The obligatory cowboy songs are performed by the second Texas Ranger, played by James Newill, and the comedy relief is handled by the third Ranger, Guy Wilkerson, as Panhandle Perkins. With plenty of fist fights and gun battles the excitement reaches a level that will keep us wanna-be cowboys and cowgirls happy right up to the moment that evil lawyer Kendall Lowther gets his. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter on it, grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the show.
