The Welsh Ghost Hosts of 21 June

David is a famous orchestra conductor who will soon die . . . . Alice and Harry have a young teen daughter and they are getting a divorce. . . . Fortescue is getting out of prison . . . A French woman and her British sea captain husband are separating after the death of their son. . . . A World War II black market businessman needs a holiday . . . A young couple in love, but on opposite sides of the war . . . . We all have our problems, but these folk have a bit more than their share . . . They all need a good holiday and the opportunity to think things out. One by one they arrive in a secluded valley in Wales where an old inn called the Halfway House has been sheltering visitors for many years. When the first guests arrive without a reservation the owner proclaims that no reservations are needed at the Halfway House, in fact quite a lot of people who don’t know where they are going arrive at the Halfway House. The landlord and his daughter, played by real life father and daughter Mervyn Johns and Glynis Johns, welcome all of the arriving guests. Mrs. Meadows, the French lady is grieving the loss of her son in the war, and she is angry at her British sea captain, and he has problems of his own. The French woman has a book to study while on holiday at the Halfway House, a book about how to contact the spirit world. How handy that might be at the Halfway House. You see, The Halfway House was bombed on the day of 21 June 1942 and burned to the ground with the owner and his daughter inside. Today is 21 June 1943 . . . One year later . . . . The house is in perfect condition, and the publican and his daughter are welcoming the guests who so desperately need their help. All of the guests have arrived at The Halfway House . . . . Halfway between Here and There. At the end of the day . . . 21 June . . . . Will the guests be Here . . . . or There? It is getting dark . . . . the Night is upon them . . . Fear is slowly falling on the visitors at the Halfway House . . . The Ghost Hosts of the Halfway House are talking now . . . . Must listen . . . . Must understand . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
