Texas Rangers vs Rustling Renegades

A small town composed of men who are rustling thieves is using a pitchfork brand . . . the brand of the devil . . . as their calling card when they rob banks and rustle cattle. Lady rancher Molly Dawson buys a ranch near the town and when her cattle and horses start disappearing she calls on the Texas Rangers to help her. The job goes to three Rangers who drop into town to check things out. Two of the rangers hit town as cowboys looking for work who aren't too particular what the work is. The third Texas Ranger hits town as a quirky character who makes elaborate cattle brands for rustlers. But there is a twist to this rustling round-up . . . Two of the Texas Rangers come upon a rancher who is watching the rustlers re-brand some of his cattle, and low and behold . . . one of the rustlers seems to be new ranch lady Molly Dawson! This puts another wrinkle into the adventure that the Texas Rangers need to sort out. This adventure is crammed full of bar fights, shoot outs and some of our favorite rustling bad guys including one of my favorite cowboy bad guys Charles King as guitar playing henchman Bucko Lynn. Gang boss Jack Varno is played by tall and lanky veteran actor I. Stanford Jolley. Our Texas Rangers are leading men Dave O'Brien and James Newill, along with character actor Guy Wilkerson. Dave O'Brien was a popular leading man in cowboy movies and also made his mark as a 'G' man and other leading good guy roles. In 1954, ten years after making this cowboy western, Dave O'Brien tried his hand at situation comedy on the emerging new media of television in a comedy pilot called 'Meet the O'Briens' where Dave was the nit-wit son-in-law who always managed to mess things up around the house and be the constant irritant to his hard-working father-in-law, much like the relationship of Archie Bunker and son-in-law Mike many years later in the show "All in the Family." But today it is cowboy western time, so pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show.
