The Store Keeper, the Postmistress, the Ranchers, and the Farmers

If you cross the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, you will wind up in Marin County, named after the great chief of the Licatiut tribe. This great Indian chief was converted to Christianity by Spanish Friars, and was baptized ‘Marino’ a name that was soon shortened to Marin. In 1850 the land that the family owned much of became Marin County, and in 1890, one of the Indian Chief’s descendants was born in San Rafael, and the baby girl was named Marin Sais.

She had a voice that could have made her an opera star, but when motion pictures were invented, she was immediately attracted to the new invention. During the first years of silent motion pictures she was a leading lady, excelling in comedy roles. When sound was added to the moving pictures, and she was getting older, she became a frequent character actor, mostly in cowboy movies like this one.

Buster Crabbe and Al St. John, as Fuzzy, are the good guys in this cowboy adventure, and Fuzzy has just purchased the general store in a cow town that is being settled by farmers. Marin Sais is the postmistress at the post office which is inside the general store.

Of course, like most cowboy adventures, there is a comic relief character like Fuzzy, but in this one, Marin Sais helps Fuzzy deliver the laughs, while the farmers and the cowboys are fighting it out with each other. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
