Ten Little Indians
There is an island off the coast of England that has a magnificent mansion high on a bluff above the shore. As our murder mystery opens we watch as eight people who do not know each other are in a small boat and headed for the island.
Once there, the eight people make their way to the top of the hill and enter the mansion. All eight of them were invited to the mansion for the weekend by U.N. Own . . . A name that sounds eerily like ‘unknown’ . . . The eight visitors discover that there is no one inside the mansion save for a married couple that was hired as butler and maid.
When the boat heads back for the mainland they discover that the eight strangers, along with the butler and maid, will be alone in the mansion until the boat returns on Monday. After dinner the butler puts a phonograph record on the gramophone and a voice calls out to all of them.
The eight strangers, the butler and maid, are all accused of committing murder in their past lives, and all have been condemned to death . . . This weekend . . . While they are alone in the mansion.
When the first guest falls dead, the rest of them search high and low for the killer, but besides them there is only a small pussy cat on the island. One by one, all weekend long, they get murdered, and porcelain Indian statues on the dining room table are broken as guests are killed.
With no one else on the island, the remaining guests correctly assume that one of them is the killer, . . . . But which one? Who can any of them trust? How can the guests who are not the killer protect themselves from the killer? What strategy can the remaining guests use to stay alive?
One by one they continue to die, until finally there are only two remaining, . . . . And one of them must be the killer. . . . Right? Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
