The Marriage . . . And the Murder

Kenneth Holden is a lawyer who is the trustee of the fortune of heiress Claire Worthington. She has more money than she could ever spend in a lifetime. Kenneth is in financial trouble, and he ‘borrows’ money from her estate without telling her. She will never miss the money, even though the amount is quickly rising. The money that he has ‘borrowed’ from her fortune is getting so large that Kenneth begins to think that he must do something. . . . . Something to guarantee that the wealthy woman will not mind him stealing a large pile of her money.

Kenneth decides that if he can marry the wealthy heiress, all his problems will be over. Yes, that will solve all of Ken’s problems. Ken arranges to visit the wealthy woman that evening, sending a large bouquet of flowers to her mansion before he arrives. When he gets to her house he tenderly proposes to her, but she tells him that she is already in love with another man. Drats, what will he do now?

Fortunately, Kenneth meets his stockbroker at a nightclub, and it turns out that the owner of the nightclub is a gangster who has people killed. Suddenly Kenneth knows what he must do. He must hire a killer to knock off the wealthy woman’s fiancĂ© so that he can then convince her to marry him. It will work like a charm, . . . . Nothing could go wrong. Absolutely nothing could go wrong, right? Kenneth will soon be in the clover. . . . . Or will he be under it? Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
