Casanova Joe and the Swinging Sheakspeare Girls

Joe and Bill were enjoying a cold brew at the neighborhood saloon after a hard day’s work in February of 1944. They were remembering the good old days and lamenting the new ways that young kids were spending their time.

“Yeah,” Bill exclaimed. “We knew how to show a girl a good time, but these kids today . . . . All they are interested in is the new motion pictures at the downtown theater.”

“I know,” Joe replied. “In our day we would dress up in our best clothes, take our girlfriend out to dinner, and then to a REAL theater, with REAL people on stage, making us laugh, cry, and even some sexy girl dancers. . . .Now THAT is entertainment.”

“Yeah,” Joe continued, “Those were the days, . . . None of these new-fangled motion pictures can compare to the thrill of the live Burlesque Vaudeville shows that we used to enjoy.”

“Hey,” Bill suddenly exclaimed. “Did you see the new motion picture playing at the theater this weekend? I hear that it has all the great Burlesque performers in a movie, and get this, Joe, somehow they get tricked into doing a Shakespeare play with one of the funniest Vaudeville performers and prettiest sex-kittens of the burlesque stage.”

“I don’t know, Bill, I don’t think that even the funniest burlesque men and the sexiest burlesque girls can make The Taming of the Shrew funny and sexy.”

“Wanna bet?” Joe challenged. "Let's get our ladies and go find out." Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
