It's Not Just A Job . . . It's an Adventure!

In 1944 the world was at war, and much of the focus of Hollywood was on the war . . . they produced movies about the valiant fighting men who fought and died . . . and they produced light-hearted soldier movies to bring a smile to the faces of all the folk at home worrying about their sons and daughters at war . . . but very few stories about the boys getting ready for war, and the emotions and feelings of the boys as they trained for a war that they didn't start, and didn't ask for, but were willing to fight and die for. Johnny Jersey is a young fighter who is just about to break through and earn some real money that will allow him to take care of his hard-working mother and father. Johnny gets his induction notice and is instantly bitter that it will keep him from helping his mom and dad. He tries to fit in with the other men, but soon discovers that his street-tough New Jersey ways are not the Navy Way, but slowly he is changing, thanks to the men around him, and he is becoming a part of a team of men that will stand up for each other no matter what. Unfortunately his actions are quick reactions instead of thoughtful choices and he winds up getting into one scrape after another until the day comes when the men are about to get their assignments and Johnny gets into trouble that no one can get him out of unless somehow a miracle happens . . . and we all know that miracles in the Navy are rare. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show.
