Gambling Mobsters, reporters, and the Head Dame

Chuck LaRue, played by Richard Travis, operates several private gambling joints in College Green, near Big Town. Steve Wilson, played by Phillip Reed, is the managing editor of a Big Town newspaper owned by Amos Peabody. Amos Peabody has a young niece that he is financing at college in College Green, near the mobster's gambling joint. Hillary Brooke is beautiful police reporter Lorelei Kilbourne who carries a torch for editor Steve Wilson. Young niece Susan Peabody, played by Ann Gillis, comes from college at College Green into Big Town and wants a job as a reporter on Uncle Peabody's newspaper. She gets editor Steve Wilson interested in her, to the chagrin of reporter Lorelei. Wilson and Susan go to the LaRue gambling joint and Wilson gets beat up and tossed onto a dark street, while Susan gets kidnapped, forcing Uncle Peabody to dish out fifty thousand dollars to mobster LaRue. Then it gets a bit complicated. It turns out that the big mobster LaRue has a secret wife who is the brains behind the mobster, and she two-times every man she meets, with her hubby LaRue as the biggest fool. But mobster LaRue gets wise, and he gets his wife, the newspaper editor and one of his wife's boyfriends alone in an apartment, with plans to perpetrate the perfect crime. Mobster LaRue will kill his wife, her boyfriend, and newspaper man Wilson, with Wilson as the patsy. The mob in Big Town and gambling mobster LaRue seem to have every angle covered . . . except . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter, and enjoy the show.
