Lily, Her baby, and Who’s the Cowboy Daddy?

If you are a cowboy fan, this story has gun-toting, fist swinging, hot-tempered cowboys. If you are a drama fan, and are old enough to remember the 1980’s television show ‘Dallas,’ this 1951 story is about a wealthy ranch family in turmoil, with two competing men, their women, and the men who want to see them dead, because one of the two men done their sister wrong.

Sally Forrest was born in San Diego, California, where her father was a Boatswain’s Mate in the U.S. Navy. When Sally was twelve years old her mother signed her up for dancing lessons with the dancing coach who taught Rita Hayworth, and her dancing instructor was so impressed with Sally’s natural talent that she coached her for free.

Sally was teaching ballet before she left high school, and during her final year of high school she auditioned and was given a movie contract and became a chorus dancer in several musicals, beginning with the 1946 classic, “Till the Clouds Roll By,” when she was 18 years old.

Famous actor and producer Ida Lupino recognized her talent and hired her to star in her first movie with a speaking part. Sally became an overnight sensation as a result of her performance in the Ida Lupino production of one of her ‘mothers, warn your daughters’ movies, “Not Wanted,” that you can watch right here. —»

In this adventure she is a young unwed mother, and the father is probably one of the two men at the richest ranch in the valley. She has two tough brothers who are determined to force one of the brothers to marry their sister or die at the end of their guns. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn drizzled with plenty of warm melted butter and enjoy the show.
