Nine Fighting Cavalrymen against 600 Apache Warriors

Warning: This Western is not your usual 53 minute ‘chase some cow rustlers and kiss the rancher’s daughter’ popcorn fest. It is a powerfully intense battle with violence and death that is rarely seen in the 1930’s and 1940’s Western adventures. There will be no guitar strumming cowboy singing to the rancher’s daughter and no goofy but well-meaning side kick to bring a bit of comedy relief.

Gregory Peck is Army Cavalry Captain Richard Lance, posted at an army fort in the middle of Apache Indian territory. Along a ridge of mountains there is one narrow pass. On the other side of that narrow pass is a tribe of warring Apache Indians. On this side of the pass is one small army fort guarding the narrow pass that the Indians must come through to battle the army.

This leads to that and Gregory Peck must take a handful of the worst soldiers in the Army and defend that lonely fort for three days until reinforcements can reach them. Gregory Peck is the Captain of the group of miss-fit soldiers, and the cast of actors that he will lead into battle include Ward Bond, Lon Chaney Jr., Neville Brand, and Jeff Corey.

Nine men who are unfit to be in any man’s army will be forced to stand with Gregory Peck against a full tribe of Indians on the warpath. Did I mention that each of the men that Gregory Peck takes with him on this suicide mission has a reason to kill him? Pop a really big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
