Love, Italian Style

Sometime around 1350ad in Florence, Italy there lived an Italian man named Giovanni Boccaccio, who wrote 100 love stories . . . some were raunchy-erotic, some were witty-funny, some were ironic-tragic . . . but all were an entertaining and fascinating look at the relationships between lovers. During the writing of these classic tales of love, Italy and much of Europe were suffering under the curse of the black plague, but the motive for hiding in the secluded villa in these stories is a mercinary army that is attacking Florence. Several beautiful women have fled Florence for a mountain villa where the ladies can live away from the city and away from the plague. A young and handsomely romantic man, played by legendary leading man Louis Jourdan, joins the ladies at the villa on the condition that he promise to never make love to any of the ladies . . . in place of loving the girls he will tell a story each evening about lovers and their adventures of romance. Besides Louis Jourdan, we will enjoy the beautiful Joan Fontaine as the lady that Louis Jourdan makes love to, and the 20 year old sexy vamp Joan Collins, openly lusting for Louis Jourdan. In this 1953 motion picture we will only watch three of the hundred tales, and they clearly show us that love in 1350ad . . . like love in 1953ad . . . like love today . . . hasn't changed very much at all. There are women who are faithful to a fault . . . There are women who lust after a manly body and the children that they can provide . . . and there are the men . . . all alike . . . the men lust after the women that they do not have, and want not the physical love from the wives that they do have . . . Can one suave man and one beautiful woman find lasting love among the games people play chasing lust and beauty? Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
