The Hypnotic Killer . . .

Can a man in a hypnotic trance be instructed to kill? . . . . Are you certain? . . . . Not even in the movies? . . . Val is a jet airplane test pilot who pushes the limits of man and machine and barely escapes death. Unfortunately his near death experience has led him to have psychological problems. Fortunately his fiancé Mary knows a world famous psychiatrist and he agrees to treat the test pilot with mental problems, and Val becomes a houseguest of the famous doctor. One day while helping a witchy woman carry her packages into the apartment building Val has a psychotic episode, but instead of harming the witchy woman he scrambles back to the doctor's apartment. The psychiatrist has been hypnotizing the test pilot and delving into his childhood, and it turns out that as a little boy Val was stranded with his mother in a snow-bound farm house when she died, and he spent four snowy days with his dead mother before neighbors could reach them. During one particularly intense hypnotic session Val jumps from the doctor's couch and rushes out of the room and into the streets, still under the doctor's hypnotic suggestion. He spends the day wandering the streets of London in an amnesia fog and spends the night with a blonde gal he meets in a jazz club. The next day he is finally able to remember who he is and returns to his fiancé and his treatments with the psychiatrist. One night Val goes to bed but does not go to sleep. The witchy woman that he met once before that induced a psychotic experience for him is strangled as she calls for help, and it appears that Val has killed her. The psychiatrist shows Val the pendant from the strangled woman's neck that he says Val brought back to the apartment, and the psychiatrist promises to hide the pendant from the police and help Val avoid being arrested. Then the Scotland Yard inspectors arrive and begin their investigation . . . . and the shocker surprise of the story is uncovered by the clever coppers . . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
