The Secret of the Acoma Pueblo

Whew, . . . . This is a Western adventure, full of action, fighting and shooting, but it is surely not your typical singing cowboy adventure with plenty of comedy relief. As our story opens Abraham Lincoln is presenting a token of friendship to Chief Acoma in the dusty desert area just west of Albuquerque, New Mexico. President Lincoln promises peace and cooperation with the Native American Indians, but when Lincoln is killed, all deals with the Acoma Indians is off. The Colonel of the nearby army fort is going to put the Injuns in their place and begins arresting any Indians that do the smallest thing wrong. When Chief Acoma goes to the fort to intercede for his men he is also arrested, and when he is, he vows revenge. That night, while Chief Acoma is in his jail cell, some of his men quietly enter the fort to kill the Colonel and rescue their Chief. Lew Ayres is Captain Hunt, second in command, and he rouses up the men and heads out into the desert night after the Indians that killed the Colonel. The first place he looks is in a stone pueblo high on the top of a ragged cliff, but all he finds are the two young sons of Chief Acoma . . . . And one of his privates shoots and kills one of the Chief's sons. Chief Acoma will not be happy . . . Outside the pueblo Chief Acoma meets Captain Hunt and offers the Captain and his men safe passage back to their fort if they leave the pueblo immediately. Captain Hunt becomes convinced that there is something about this pueblo that the Indians badly want to keep secret, and he will not go back to the fort until he discovers what is so special about this little stone pueblo. This leads to that and we find the handful of Cavalry men trapped in the empty pueblo along with Cherry, a famous 'entertainer', and Charlie, the young son of Chief Acoma. Surrounding them are more than a thousand angry Indians ready to go on the warpath to capture the pueblo and kill everyone trapped inside. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
