What Can I Say?

I'm Stumped. A handful of real Hollywood folk . . . producers, one of the premier make-up artists, style mavens and other real people appear in this unusual motion picture with an agenda . . . women need to learn how to make themselves more attractive after they get married. Now, don't get me wrong . . . I agree with the premise . . . we all know girls who took the time and care to be a sexy lure when hunting a husband but after catching him giving up all thoughts of remaining attractive, but is it worth making a movie to point it out? Is it worth creating a motion picture that spends several minutes with a Hollywood make-up artist teaching women watching the movie how to properly apply rouge, eyeliner and lipstick . . . I can see the same thing any day at the local department store cosmetics counter today with a cosmetics sales lady doing a make-up lesson on a willing subject . . . but maybe back in 1951 before there were shopping malls in every town with large national department stores it was not as easy for ladies to learn proper make-up. It was very interesting to meet some of the Hollywood folk who were experts at beauty and style, but it comes off more like a film to watch in high school than at a movie theater with a tub of popcorn and jumbo soda pop. It is interesting, with a decent plot about a marriage gone stale, but no one dies, no one robs a bank, no one does anything more exciting than the gal that teaches women how to do a proper 1950's style sit up to keep the tummy firm. But when your choice is to watch paint dry or watch a gal learn how to apply make-up properly 1950 style, pop a big bowl of popcorn with warm melted butter on it and have a gander at 1951 style school.
