Murder - Too Smart by Half

There is nothing better for a rainy afternoon than a good murder mystery . . . The kind of murder mystery that puts suspects in front of us one by one . . . And we are certain that we have discovered the killer very quickly . . . until a bit further down the story line when the next clue emerges pointing to another person . . . How delicious! We begin our crime adventure in a small town in England where young Doctor Boswell, played by Raymond Young, arrives to help the old country doctor who has cared for the village for so many years, but has been strangely ill lately. After his arrival the young doctor is surprised when Doctor Welling quickly offers him a partnership in his entire medical practice. One night when the young doctor has returned to his home town to get his belongings and move to the small town permanently the older doctor and his nurse are called to a home that is having a baby. When the doctor and nurse return to the doctor's home they discover that the doctor's wife is writhing in pain in her bed, and on her way to and through death's door. But the ominous clues have already started painting our picture of a deliciously complicated crime. The doctor suddenly seemed anxious to get home, and we are thinking that he has knowledge that all is not well at home . . . Then as the doctor and nurse discover the writhing wife the nurse runs quickly to the locked medicine chest and opens it, first wiping all fingerprints from the glass door, then making sure that her fingerprints are the only ones on the glass. As the clues keep coming at us they are clear enough that we know they are significant, but we will have trouble making them fit the correct pattern that will lead to the killer. There is much more going on here than first meets the eye! Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
