Fuzzy Dice Hanging on the Mirror
If you are too young to have memories of fuzzy dice hanging from the car rear-view mirror . . . check out the first photo in the gallery of pics under this movie review . . . and let me tell you about the days when your parents or grandparents were young. In 1960 the first of the post World War II baby boom kids were going to high school. I was nine years old and too young for high school, but those cars . . . they were the cars that I remember building . . . well, I didn't actually build the cars, but I enjoyed buying plastic model cars that I would carefully glue together with model cement and display in my bedroom with pride. Those huge cars with space-age fins on the back . . . When I got my first car about eight years later I never added fuzzy dice to my mirror, but I did buy a kit to wrap real leather around the huge steering wheel . . . and I purchased a very cool hardwood knob that attached to the steering wheel that I could grab and steer with one hand. My joy at watching movies from before I was born comes from watching how people lived, worked and played in the world before my time . . . but I gotta tell you . . . and those of you who are old enough to remember the 1960's will probably agree . . . watching this movie is like remembering my days of youth, and what seemed at the time to be stressful days of growing up, but in hindsight were some of the best days of my life. Sock hops in the school gym . . . knotty pine on the walls of the little restaurant that the kids spend their time at . . . and fuzzy dice hanging from the car mirror. If you are old enough to watch and enjoy a blast from the past, or if you want to see how your parents partied as teenagers . . . Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show.
