Find the Flying Tiger . . .

Let me tell you about one of the actors in this killer-thriller . . . . You are looking for a man . . . One of the three leading men in this movie played in a rock band in high school, and a couple of years after appearing in this film quit acting and became an airline pilot flying for the cargo airline Flying Tigers. His father, who paid for this movie and several other drive-in thrillers featuring this actor was an Army Air Force Pilot during World War II, and flying was in their blood. This actor later became a Captain flying 747's, and continued flying for Fed-Ex after they purchased the Flying Tigers. After retiring from Fed-Ex in 2003 he flew for private businesses for a few more years. His 6 motion pictures aimed at the drive-in theater market have become cult classics enjoying a wider audience today than when released to the drive-in movie circuit in the 1960's. As I write this you can find his Facebook page where he still chats with his new and old fans . . . Yup, I'm talking about the deranged maniac killer, played by Arch Hall Jr. . . . in this movie, based partly on a real-life teenage killer of the day, three school teachers are headed for Dodger Field to watch the Cincinnati Reds play the Dodgers on a warm Saturday afternoon. While on a deserted country road their car has engine trouble and they stop at a small service station that seems to be deserted. In fact, our teenage maniac killer has just murdered the owners of the place, and are waiting to capture, torture and kill the three teachers. Aimed at drive-in teenage dating couples, the goal was to get frightened teenage girls to cling in fear to their popcorn eating guys, and I'm confident that it accomplished this quite easily. Even today, almost half a century later, it will fill many ladies with fear as they cling desperately to their man for protection. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
