Space Creatures at Make-Out Point

In December of 1969 the Secretary of the U.S. Air Force ended Project Blue Book, the official public search for Unidentified Flying Objects. After 12,618 official investigations, it was determined that every witness to a UFO was mistaken, and no creatures from outer space have ever landed on Earth (wink wink). I believe them . . . . Don’t you? And the Majestic 12 report from Robert Cutler to General Nathan Twining from July 14, 1954 is just a hoax, right? This film from 1965 puts it all to rest . . . It is proof positive of visitors from another planet . . . . Never mind what looks like strings attached to the monster hand crawling through the grass . . . This stuff is for real! Just ask Susan and Stan. They are in the Texas woods surrounding old man Bailey’s farm with a dozen other couples in parked cars doing what comes natural to teens. Susan and Stan are in love, and tonight they are going to run away and get married as soon as they finish necking in the woods. When they are finished necking, they drive slowly down the dirt road, keeping the headlights of their car turned off so they don’t bother the other teens busily smooching in the dark. Suddenly their car runs over someone. . . . Or something . . . . When they get out to see what they hit, they discover the body of a space alien. The severed claw of the creature from outer space crawls to their front tire and punctures it, and without a spare tire in the trunk they are stranded in the dark woods with the dead outer space creature. Susan and Stan decide to hike over to old man Baily’s creepy house so they can call the police and report the dead outer space monster. Meanwhile, another fellow drives by and sees the dead alien laying by the disabled car and he is killed by another space monster who comes to collect the body of the dead space alien. So now when the police come to look at the space monster that the two teens ran over they discover the body of the young fellow who happened by, and out two teens are accused of running over and killing the young fellow. Sheesh, this isn’t unfolding like the typical horror monster movie . . . . And is it just me, or does the comedy relief that is common in all thrillers seem to outweigh the horror in this story? How cool . . . A funny outer space monster thriller! Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
