Lucy in the Sky and the Destruction of Earth . . .

Hey, before we get into the destruction of the Earth, I have some good news from the future . . . . . While we currently get our news from our phones and computers, and printed-on-paper newspapers are quickly disappearing from our lives, this story from far into the future confirms that reporters will be alive and well at the end of days. Our space star in this story is a cocky reporter for the Interplanetary News Service! Truth be told, I miss the cocky reporters more than the printed newspapers . . . . There is something about the stereotyped movie newspaper reporter that is entertaining. They have the attitude of a super-hero - there is nothing that they cannot do . . . . There is no trouble that they cannot fix . . . . . Even when drunk . . . . I Love it! Our pesky reporter-hero is heading to a space station to get a story for his paper, and while there he is included in a rescue mission to save the earth from destruction. Ray Peterson, played by Rik Van Nutter, is on a routine assignment to get a story for his Earth newspaper about life aboard one of the stations in outer space. The reporter takes a lot of abuse from the men and women working in space, but his ego is big enough to give as good as he gets. With a lot of pluck and luck he is allowed join a crew heading on a mission to Mars, but before they arrive at the station on Mars they get an urgent message from Earth . . . . A space ship has gone out of control and is headed for Earth, and will destroy the Earth completely unless our reporter and the crew of the space ship can find a way to destroy the rogue rocket before it hits the Earth. This should be a simple job for skilled rocket spacemen, but there is just a teeny, tiny problem . . . . There are two machine-brains on board the rogue rocket that have taken control of the ship, and they have set up a heat shield of 5,000 miles around the rocket that will destroy anything trying to get close enough to stop its journey. If the space men and the reporter cannot find a way to stop the rogue rocket and Earth is destroyed, they will all be trapped in space till they die. There is a beautiful space girl along as navigator, Lucy Y-13, and space girl Lucy loves Ray, and Ray loves Ray, so it is even more important now that the rogue rocket be destroyed before it crashes into the Earth and its heat shield melts the Earth into a primordial ooze. Of course the trained space men fail at their attempt to reach the destructive rocket headed to Earth, and it will be up to that intrepid reporter from Earth to save the world from destruction and win the affections of space girl Lucy. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
