The Princess and the Pauper

In order to have a great hero, we must have a great adversary, and in this sword and sandal classic the evil Sultan Dakar is the tyrannical ruler of the people who long for someone to deliver them from his evil rule. Princess Fatima, played by Irène Tunc, is given to the Sultan as a gift, but she scorns the Sultan and escapes his palace at the first opportunity. Floating down the river she is discovered by a poor village boy who takes her to his home and they fall in love. This village boy, Nadir, played by Rik Battaglia, is our valiant hero, but he doesn't know it yet. One day the guards of the Sultan, who have been searching all of the land for the escaped princess find her and take her back to the palace and the Sultan once again tries to force her to love him and be his Queen. Back in the little village the man who Nadir thought was his father tells him the truth about his heritage. It seems that Omar, who has raised Nadir is not his father, but was actually the head military man in the kingdom when the evil Dakar took the kingdom by force and killed the young boy's father. Nadir is actually the young son of the real King, and is the legitimate heir to the throne . . . if he can take it by force from the evil Sultan Dakar. Can the village boy, who is really the crown prince, gather an army of discontented villagers and attack the palace of Sultan Dakar and save the lovely princess? Will the final battle with their light-sabers . . . . er . . . I mean steel swords, bring the evil rule of Dakar to an end or will the young prince fail in his conquest? Will the lovely princess find her prince and live happily ever after or will the evil Sultan slay the son just as he killed his father the King long ago? Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it, maybe accompanied by a side of penne and marinara, and enjoy the show.
