The Wilde and the Valiant
The 1936 Olympics was about to begin and athletes from the U.S. were getting ready to travel to Berlin, Germany. Dictator Adolph Hitler was hosting the event. The U.S. olympic team included runner Jesse Owens and fencing champion Cornelius Louis Wilde, but hours before leaving for the Olympics, Cornelius Wilde changed his mind. He had a different passion in his heart, and he gave up any thoughts of being a champion athlete for the thrill of acting on stage.
Oscar winning heart-throb actor Cornel Wilde went on to act, direct and produce motion pictures and later appear on television programs until just before his death in 1989 three days after his 77th birthday.
In this epic tale of King Arthur and his famous Knight Lancelot Wilde not only acted in the lead part, but wrote, produced and directed the movie, and it doesn't end there. Jean Wallace, his lovely blonde wife of many years played the part of Guinevere, the lady he fought for and then delivered to King Arthur to become his new Queen.
When Lancelot's love for Guinevere becomes known Lancelot runs away to save Guinevere the embarrassment, but King Arthur ties her to a stake ready for burning. Lancelot rescues her from the fires of death but then to save the peace Lancelot is exiled to France and Guinevere is sent to a nunnery. King Arthur is then killed by another, forcing Sir Lancelot out of exile to battle the rogue Knight Modred to avenge the death of King Arthur and search for his Guinevere. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter on it and enjoy the show.
