The Six O'Clock Knock and the Chosen One

Can a low-budget horror movie filmed in Texas scare you? Maybe yes, maybe no. Can a ghost story bring real ghosts to sit next to you as you watch? Maybe yes, maybe no. Can I find a couple of interesting items about one of the actors that might tease you into finding out if you will be scared, or visited by ghosts as you watch? Maybe yes, maybe no. But here goes my attempt to tease you into watching.

Two fellows sitting in a bar make a bet with each other that the old Hanley House is haunted and no one can survive a night in the creepy crypt of death. Five people will try to stay the night, three fellows and two gals. I want to tell you about the leading actress in the story.

Barbara Chase is the blonde young girl Sheila, who seems to have a special connection to the ghosts of Hanley House. This was her first known movie, and her next one was playing the part of Buffy in the 1980 Dolly Parton hit movie ‘Nine to Five.’ After that she appeared in a few television shows.

The late 1960’s and early 1970’s were when the Viet Nam war was raging, and young adults were chanting, “Tune in, Turn on, Drop out,” a phrase created and made popular by a graduate of West Point and Army veteran who then became a professor at Harvard University. Timothy Leary got into trouble and was fired for giving students psychedelic drugs during clinical tests. He later spent ten years in prison for possession of two marijuana cigarettes. And then in 1978, two years before Barbara Chase would get a part in the Dolly Parton movie, he married Barbara Chase. Their marriage lasted fourteen years before their divorce.

Tanya Roberts was the last detective angel to appear on the original ‘Charlie’s Angels’ television show, then starred on the situation comedy classic, ‘That ‘70s Show,’ in addition to more movies and television appearances. Her long strawberry blonde hair and whispery-sexy voice made her the favorite actress of many fellows. Would you like to meet Tanya’s older sister? That would be Barbara Chase, the blonde female leading actress in this ghost story.

Did I share enough teasing talk about actress Barbara Chase to tempt you to watch her in action? Are you tempted mightily to see the chosen onePop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
