Good Old Boys South of Texas

As fans of old movies you know several of the actors in this 1972 cowboy adventure, like Chuck Connors, famous as television's Rifleman . . . and legendary actor Cesar Romero, and you may be familiar with legendary flamingo dancer José Greco . . . But today you should know more about actor Peter Ford. Old-timers like me who lived through the 1970's may confuse him with Steven Ford, the son of President Gerald Ford and an actor on a television soap opera. Peter Ford is the son of legendary actor Glenn Ford, and the even more famous tap dancing Eleanor Powell. Struck with arthritis in 1966 that kept him in bed for months, and able to walk only with much pain after that . . . was suddenly freed from the pain and remains very healthy today, he believes because of the prayers of his mother Eleanor Powell. In this adventure he plays one of the four Texas cowboys roaming through South America, but he is not seen in any of the action scenes, and I'm thinking that his mobility was still difficult during the filming of this adventure. Peter Ford is guitar playing, serenading Billy in this story, and usually seen wearing the bright yellow banded cap. In the closing scene you can notice him favoring one leg as he walks away from the closing conflict. I highly recommend that you purchase "Glenn Ford, A Life" from Amazon.com to discover the fascinating story of Peter and his amazing childhood and adult memories of the very unique life of Glenn Ford. But now a bit about the story . . . Five good old boys from Texas are tired of fighting Yanks and head south to find adventure and get away from the fighting of the U.S. Civil War. They get tangled up with a revolution in this small South American country and are enlisted by both sides against the other. This cowboy adventure includes most of the things you want to see in a Western adventure flavored with the beauty and ruggedness of the Spanish South Americans, but it is filmed in 1972 by a Latino producer and director, and the Hays office is not dictating how the story must end, so be prepared for an amazingly different story plot and ending. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
